PRIORITISING TO TAKE ACTION

  • What do we need to do and why?
  • What are our options?
  • Have we faced this situation before?
  • What can we do to ensure better progress and outcomes for more of our learners?
  • How big is the change we have in mind?
  • Can we get the outcomes we want within the timeframe we have specified?
  • What strengths do we have to draw on/ build on?
  • What support/resources might we need?

We have explored ourselves as learners through intelligences, learning styles, thought & discussion-provoking questions, analysing our school values and how they can relate directly to learning, fixed vs growth mindset & the Learning Pit:

The Learning Pit is one way to explain why more challenge leads to enhanced learning.

We noticed that historically we have not covered Te Reo in as much depth as we could. We committed to covering this to ensure that we were placing value on this subject, particularly given the cultural make-up of the class and school. The emphasis would be on basic language acquisition in Te Reo as well as having students become familiar with their pepeha.
